iPhone eSIM Setup Guide

Thank you for choosing eSIMgo! In this guide, you'll learn how to properly set up your eSIM and use the key features of this service.

First, for every device you must verify that the device is compatible with eSIM technology. Not all devices support eSIMs, so it's important to check this first.

General Steps

We recommend installing the eSIM the day before your departure. Upon arrival at your destination, select our eSIM for 'mobile data' in your phone settings.

Use QR code installation when scanning from another device. Otherwise, follow the manual installation instructions.

iPhone eSIM Setup Guide

Follow these steps to install and activate your eSIM on your iPhone.

What you need

  1. An eSIM-compatible iPhone (XS or newer)
  2. Stable WiFi connection
  3. Your QR code (email or dashboard)

QR Code Installation

Open the email with the QR code on another device (computer, tablet) and scan it with your iPhone.

Open Settings

Go to Settings > Cellular and tap "Add eSIM" or "Add Cellular Plan".

Use QR Code

Select the "Use QR Code" option.

Scan QR Code

Scan the QR code from your email or enter the details manually if you can't scan.

Activate eSIM

Your iPhone will detect the new plan. Tap "Continue" and wait for the plan to install (may take 1-2 minutes).

Name your eSIM

Give your new eSIM a name, e.g. "eSIMgo Travel", so you can easily identify it.

Set default line

Select "Primary" as your default line to continue receiving calls and texts on your regular number.

iMessage & FaceTime

Select "Primary" for iMessage and FaceTime to keep these services on your main number.

Set mobile data

Go to Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data and select your new eSIMgo eSIM. Disable "Allow Cellular Data Switching".

Enable data roaming

At your destination: Go to Settings > Cellular > your eSIMgo eSIM and enable "Data Roaming".

Manual Installation

If you can't scan the QR code (e.g. because you don't have a second screen):

  • Go to Settings > Cellular > Add eSIM > Use QR Code
  • Tap "Enter Details Manually"
  • Enter the SM-DP+ address and activation code from your email
  • Tap "Next" and follow the instructions

Important Notes

  • ⚠️Never delete the eSIM from your device – it cannot be used again
  • ⚠️Only enable data roaming when you arrive at your destination
  • ⚠️Make sure you have a stable WiFi connection during installation
